AR OBSERVES GO GREEN FORTNIGHT’

27 Sector under the aegis of HQ IGAR(S) observed ‘Go Green Fortnight’ in CC pur district. Brig V S Ranade, Commander 27 Sector planted sapling in a function organised under the initiative of 46 Assam Rifles at Churachandpur on 12 July 2012. Speaking on the occasion, Commander 27 Sector exhort the gathering to contribute in whatever way to curb the depleting ecological balance. The event was organized with an aim of saving and regenerating flora of the state and also spread awareness among the Public. The event was organized during the fortnight which includes plantation of over 10,000 saplings which includes ornamental, fruit bearing and other forest trees, awareness campaign and lecture on environmental issues at various locations in Churachandpur Districts. Large number of villagers, students from various Schools and Colleges who participated in the event. In another occasion, 28 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR(S) in association with Imphal East Police organised plantation drive under ‘Go Green Fortnight’ programme at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Yaralpat, Singjamei on 12 Jul 2012. Around 1000 fruit bearing and ornamental trees were planted during the drive. Commandant 28 Assam Rifles alongwith DC Imphal East, SP Imphal East, Zonal Education Officer, Imphal, faculty and students participated in the event. The drive was carried out under the theme of “Go Green Fortnight to instill the love for nature among local populace and also enhancement of arboriculture in the State for nearby villagers”. The effort was to spread the message of ‘Make your Environment Green’ to all.
