“ASSAM RIFLES SAVED LIFE OF A OF A CIVILIAN AND ORGANISED A MEDICAL CAMP’’

The troops of 30 Assam Rifles of 9 sector under HQ IGAR(S) saved the life of a civilian namely Mr Abung, son of Late Hitler Singh, aged 25 years, resident of village - Pungdong, district - Imphal East. The individual was bitten by a venomous snake on 16 June 2012 and was evacuated to MI Room, 30 Assam Rifles, Mantripukhri and given first aid. Moreover, the individual is in stable condition and is under continuous observation. The speedy action of medication and resuscitation by the medical officer of 30 Assam Rifles played a significant role in saving the life of the victim and a medical camp was org by 37 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector under HQ IGAR(S) at New Molanghat on 16 Jun 2012. A large number of villagers from New Molanghat and many other adjoining villages attended the camp. The villager were diagnosed and medicine were provided to them. Approx 120 patients were treated / diagnosed during the camp. New Molanghat is one of farthest and remotest village in Chandel Dist on the Indo-Myanmar border. Village headman of New Molanghat and near by village appreciated the efforts put in by the Assam Rifles and urged them for such assistance in future too. In another occasion 36 Assam Rifles organised an awareness program on the prevention of drug abuse and illicit trafficiking at Tuitong village on 15 June 12 and large number of villagers attended the programme .
